The short version
WanderGenie stores the information needed to plan and keep your trips — your account, your itineraries, and any documents you attach. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we never share your trips with anyone you haven't invited.
What we collect
Account: your name, email, and sign-in details are handled by Clerk, our authentication provider. We never see or store your password.
Trips: the itineraries you create — destinations, dates, preferences, day plans, hotel picks, notes, and photos you add — are stored securely in our database (Supabase) so they sync between the website and the app.
Documents: tickets, reservations, and PDFs you attach are stored privately and are only visible to you and travelers you invite to that trip.
Details about other people
Some things you can enter are about someone other than you — most often the address of a friend or relative you are staying with, and sometimes a companion's name on a booking you attach.
Treat anything you enter about another person the way you would treat it anywhere else: only add it if they would be comfortable with it. Where you are staying is saved on your trip, sent to Anthropic so the itinerary can be planned around it, shown as a pin on your trip map, and visible to anyone you invite to that trip or send the PDF to.
You almost never need a full address for this. A neighbourhood or a cross-street lets the planner build your days just as well as a door number does, and we would rather you gave us the less specific one. If a trip already holds details about someone else and you want them gone, edit the trip or delete it — deletion removes them with it — or write to us and we will remove them for you.
AI planning — what is sent, to whom, and why
Itineraries and genie chats are generated with Anthropic's Claude models. The iOS app asks for your permission before any AI feature runs, and this section is the full disclosure behind that consent.
What is sent to Anthropic: the trip details you type (destinations, dates, preferences, notes), your messages to the genie, the text of links or screenshots you explicitly ask the genie to read, and travel documents you scan. Scanned documents can contain personal details such as passenger names and booking codes — they are processed solely to extract and organize your booking information into your trip.
How it is collected: only from what you actively type, paste, upload, or scan. Nothing is collected from your device in the background.
All uses: generating and revising your itinerary, answering your genie messages, extracting places from content you share, and reading bookings out of documents you scan. Nothing else.
Protection: data is sent to Anthropic under its commercial API terms, which provide protections equivalent to ours — it is not used to train AI models and is not sold. Your name, email, and account identifiers are not included in AI requests. Place names from your trip are looked up with Google's Places service to enrich results.
Voice input is transcribed on your device by Apple's speech recognition; audio is never sent to WanderGenie's servers.
Third-party services we rely on
Each processes only what its job requires, under terms that provide the same or stronger protection than this policy:
Clerk — sign-in and account security (name, email).
Supabase — encrypted storage of your trips, documents, and photos.
Anthropic — AI itinerary generation, as described above.
Google — place details, maps, and geocoding (place and city names only, never your identity).
Nuitee / LiteAPI — hotel and flight booking when you open our booking site; your payment details go to them directly, never through WanderGenie.
Stripe and Apple — payment processing; we never see card numbers.
Resend — transactional email (for example, feedback you send us).
Weather & maps
To show forecasts and maps we send only the city names from your trip to weather and mapping services — never your identity or precise location. WanderGenie does not track your device's location.
Payments
Purchases on the website are processed by Stripe; purchases in the iOS app are processed by Apple. We never see or store card numbers.
Sharing & deletion
Trips are private by default. Invite links you create grant access only to that specific trip, and you can remove companions at any time. Deleting a trip removes it and its attachments from our database. To delete your entire account and all associated data, contact us at the address below and we'll complete it within 30 days.
